I use C4D or Maya for rigging & posing, you will need something like that to prepare your models.
Zbrush is the best for finishing your models and make them ready for 3D printing.
Then if you buy a 3D printer the software are really nice and you can have your models printed pretty easily ;)

What kind of 3D printer are you using? The model resolution turned out really nice!

perfect this is exactly what I want to start doing! can you please tell more more about this 3D printing and some good recommendations for models? I'm thinking about getting a cheap 3D printer to make toys for myself.

I don't even know what that is, you see.... My dream is to have toys of very thing and create my "dream collection" So I'm collecting models. My sister however is more of a tech person. So she will be dealing with computer stuff I could never REALLY understand (I'm kinda ... well.. think Forrest Gump but without the running)
I plan to only use white plastic for this future 3D printer. That way I can paint them. I also pick the poses before she prints them. That is my plan, so I'm looking for model's everywhere. I'm hoping to actually start making figures by 2015. I've collected over (somewhere around) 300 ish mostly of Sonic and the Super Smash Brothers.
